A Rare Pair of English Etageres in the Manner of Howard & Sons

Dimensions: H: 25 in / 64 cm W: 36 in / 92 cm D: 15 in / 38 cm Constructed in ebonised wood, with arcaded brass galleries; of three tier rectangular form having radiused corners, supported by fluted columns with capitols, rising from toupie fitted with castors stamped ‘Cope’ patent. Circa 1870 Provenance: The castor makers ‘Cope’ were established in Birmingham in 1760.
Howard & Sons of Berners Street London were exhibitors at the International Expositions in London and Paris, and were manufacturers and retailers of soft furnishings and practical household decorative pieces, made to the highest standards.
