George Brookshaw

Biography

A London cabinet-maker specialising in painted furniture, mostly in muted pastel colours, with Neo-classical counterpoints; working from his premises at 48 Great Marlborough Street, Regent Street, his trade card describes himself as ‘Peintre-Ebeniste par Extraordinaire’. He was employed in the interior decoration of Carlton House by Henry Holland at the behest of the Prince of Wales. Brookshaw also published drawing manuals on fruit, flowers, and birds.
