Augustus Enness was born in Bocking, Essex. Studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and at the Academie Julian in Paris. Elected RBA in 1925. Prolific exhibitor, showing at ROI, Fine Art Society as well as RA, Ridley Art Club and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
