Description
A Fine Carriage Clock
The engraved gilt case rises from an ogee plinth, and is dressed with elliptical polychrome enamelled plaques to the fascia and the sides, depicting children in a Romantic setting, with a carrying handle atop, set across the bevelled glass inspection window; the dial with Roman numerals and blued steel hands; the eight day twin train movement with a bi-metal compensator balance on a lever escapement set on a silvered platform, striking the hours on two gongs.
French, Circa 1880
