A Superb George IV Period Sofa
In the Grecian Manner
Carved from richly coloured rosewood, the rectilinear sofa designed in the Grecian manner, supported on four reeded and tapering legs with brass casters; the shaped end supports having tablets, with classical revival acanthus carving above, the toprail with a conforming scrolling central crest and acroteria relief carving beneath. The back and seat upholstered, and with bolsters. Following a design published by Rudolph Ackermann in 1821.
