Description
Constructed from lustrous mahogany and crossbanded satinwood, dressed with fine ormolu and brass neoclassical mounts throughout, the serpentine lower half supported on elegant hoof feet, the corners continued with espagnolettes and terminating ram's heads and husks, enclosing four graduated drawers with oval escutcheons and overlaid foliate swag handles; above, a sliding writing slope hidden within the carved apron carefully fitted with silvered inkwells and various writing accoutrements; the rectangular superstructure with double-doors, each inlaid with exotic woods depicting neoclassical motifs including floral swags, urns, and anthemia; enclosing a carefully fitted interior including a series of pigeon holes, folio compartments, and four drawers with crossbanded veneers; the doors secured with an exceptional double-bolt lock.
