A Late Georgian Burl Elm Davenport Desk
Made of fine burl elm, the desk shows off its figured grain and original patina. The sloping writing surface is inset with leather, fitted with a Bramah lock and bordered by a three-quarter pierced brass gallery. It lifts to reveal an interior divided into compartments, with four small drawers. The pedestal has graduated drawers on one side and a pull-out pen tray on the other, and the shaped apron sits on Sheraton-style bracket feet.
English, circa 1825
