Executed in oil on panel, the genre scene in an exuberant rococo manner depicting a courtly interior with aristocratic figures. Depicting all manner of rich fabrics, silks, ruffs, embroidery, gemstones, jewelry and gilt. The canvas framed within a carved swept giltwood frame. Signed, bottom right, 'J Pablo Salinas /Roma.'

Juan Pablo Salinas y Teruel (1871-1946)
Born in Madrid in 1871, Salinas began his artistic studies at the Escuela Especial de Pintura Escultura y Grabado in Madrid. His first work was presented in the exhibition organized by the Asociacion de Escritores y Artistas in 1885. By 1886, the artist had moved to Rome along with his brother Augustin, as part of the enclave of Spanish artists in Rome.
Characterized by bravura brushwork, intricate detail and sparkling surfaces, Salinas' paintings harken back to the 18th Century in costume and ambience, recreating a lost world of lavish interiors, sensuous women and opulent luxury.
