A Mahogany and Ormolu-Mounted Bureau à Cylindre In the Louis XVI Style
It is constructed from veneered mahogany with refined cast ormolu mounts in the neoclassical manner. The desk is supported on square tapering legs. The shaped apron has three lockable drawers below the chevron-inlaid tambour mechanism which opens to reveal a fitted interior and a pull-out writing surface inset with Moroccan tooled leather. The paneled serpentine sides are of conforming decoration with boxwood stringing and brass molding, surmounted with a three-quarter pierced brass gallery.
