A Pair of Marquetry Display Cabinets
In the Transitional Manner

By Edmund Kahn of London & Paris

They are constructed from kingwood, with tulipwood, bois satiné and harewood inlays, and finished with extensive ormolu mounts. Each cabinet is supported on bronze lion's paw sabots. The chamfered corners have acanthus leaf espagnolettes. A lower register encloses four drawers fronted with a marquetry panel depicting a vase of flowers on a starburst bois satiné ground crossbanded with tulipwood, ebony, and boxwood stringing. The sides have quarter-veneered kingwood. Each has a single glazed door opening to reveal a glass-shelved and mirrored interior. The serpentine cornice is delicately molded and dressed with a central ormolu mount.
Mounts bearing the stamp "E. Kahn."
