Biography

George Betjemann (1798-1886) was a prominent figure in 19th-century London's luxury goods manufacturing. The great grandfather of Sir John Betjemann, the Poet Laureate and broadcaster, George started as an apprentice to a dressing case maker in 1810. Later he established his own business, George Betjemann & Sons, which grew significantly over the years.
