A Very Fine Burr Walnut and Marquetry Inlaid Table
In the manner of Gillows
Constructed primarily in burr walnut with tulipwood crossbanding and having many other specimen and stained woods including harewood used in the marquetry work, beautifully heightened with a variety of finely cast gilt bronze mounts. The table rises from tripartite feet of inwardly scrolling form, fitted with concealed brass castors, with ormolu rosettes and pointed finials on each leg, the concave triangulated central column inlaid with flowers. The circular top with a striking bookmatched burr walnut at its centre, surrounded by a reserve with a continuous design of complex marquetry of ribbon-tied flowers on a dark background within an ormolu guard.
