The firm of Tétard was begun by Edmond Tétard in 1880, who achieved notable success for his silverware at the 1889 Paris exposition universelle, specialising in revivalist styles such as those of the ancien regime. The company became Tétard Frères in 1901 when it was taken over by Edmond's sons Georges, Henri & Jacques.
