A Mahogany and Ormolu-Mounted Bureau à Cylindre In the Louis XVI Style
Constructed from veneered mahogany with refined cast ormolu mounts in the neoclassical manner, the desk supported on square tapering legs; the shaped apron with three lockable drawers below the chevron-inlaid tambour mechanism which opens to reveal a fitted interior and a pull-out writing surface inset with Moroccan tooled leather. The panelled serpentine sides of conforming decoration with boxwood stringing and brass moulding, surmounted with a three-quarter pierced brass gallery.
