Description
An Ormolu Cased Cartel Clock By Vincenti & Cie
Constructed in gilt bronze, depicting a well modelled figure of Father Time, carrying his scythe, with a winged cherub surmount, houses a circular enamel faced clock, the gilt hands delineating the hours in Roman, and the minutes in Arabic numerals; the eight day drum movement striking the hours on a bell, and marked with the makers name 'Vincenti & Cie Medaille Argent 1855' and numbered '7220'.
French, Circa 1870
The company of Vincenti was founded in Montbeliard, on the Franco-Swiss border in 1823, and ownership passed to Messrs Roux in 1834; at the 1855 Paris Exhibition they won the silver medal.
