Constructed from ebony, amboyna and ash, dressed with specimen wood inlays; two shaped, carved and inlaid uprights flank the kneehole, with, to dexter, five lockable cedar lined drawers, having quadrant mouldings, fitted with inlaid knobs and carved escutcheons; faux drawers of similar form to sinister; the platform inlaid with 'Bat's Wing' paterae and a Tunbridge style inlaid chain link motif, and fitted with a galleried superstructure of two cabinets, the doors of which open to reveal fitted drawers, and compartments; below, a pull out extensible writing slope houses a pen tray.
