A Pair of Marquetry Display Cabinets
In the Transitional Manner

By Edmund Kahn of London & Paris

Constructed from kingwood, with tulipwood, bois satiné and harewood inlays; finished with extensive ormolu mounts; each cabinet supported on bronze lion's paw sabots; the chamfered corners with acanthus leaf espagnolettes; a lower register enclosing four drawers fronted with a marquetry panel depicting a vase of flowers on a starburst bois satiné ground crossbanded with tulipwood, ebony, and boxwood stringing; the sides with quarter-veneered kingwood; each having a single glazed door opening to reveal a glass-shelved and mirrored interior; the serpentine cornice delicately moulded and dressed with a central ormolu mount.
Mounts bearing the stamp "E. Kahn."
