George Eadon & Son (1818 - c.1880)

George Eadon set up his business in Sheffield in 1818, first supplying artists materials but soon diversifying into furniture manufacture. He quickly ranked among the city's top furniture makers, and by 1851 was employing 31 craftsmen, the largest workshop of its kind in Sheffield.   Joined by his son, Eadon & Son was offering full decorating services to his wealthy clientele which included the Duke of Norfolk and the city's industrialists who insisted on using local craftsmen. George died in 1863, and the business continued until about 1880.
