Constructed in Cuban Mahogany, rising from ogee bracket feet, the base with a raised shaped panel, flanked by canted corners adorned with blind fret carving, the door with a scalloped top, flanked by quarter reeded columns, the hood with free standing reeded columns, fretwork carving with a red silk backing, surmounted with a swan neck pediment capped with three flambeaux finials; the 7.25 arched brass dial with a silvered chapter ring, an engraved centre and raised foliate spandrels, signed ‘Dent, London’; having a weight driven movement, through an anchor escapement, and striking the hours on a bell.

E. Dent and Co. worked at the Strand and Royal Exchange between 1867 until 1875, he was the successor of the maker and maintainer of the most famous clock in the world “BIG BEN” and enjoyed the patronage of Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, and the Emperor of Russia.
