Made from pure white unglazed bisque, the extensive set comprising a large central figural composition with an accompanying twelve figurines, each representing a month of the calendar year, their bases incorporating a small flower vase. With the retailer's marks of Veuve Royer-Bulliod & Cie of Lyon, and the cobalt blue mark crossed pitchforks mark of Volkstedt of Rudolstadt.

Established in 1797, Royer-Bulliod was an important retailer of crystal, faiences and fine porcelain in the city of Lyon.
Volkstedt of Rudolstadt, Thuringia
The first porcelain factory in Thuringia, established by Georg Heinrich Macheleid in Rudolstadt, Thuringia, Germany, after receiving permission from Prince Johann Friedrich von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. Founded in 1762, Volkstedt quickly earned a reputation for quality that rivaled Meissen. By the end of the 18th century, the factory became known for its porcelain figures. It still exists under the name Älteste Volkstedter Porzellanmanufaktur.
