By H. Samuel of London
Designed in the neo-classical fashion pioneered by Thomas Chippendale, the mahogany cabinet bookcase is crisply carved throughout, rising from voluminous scrolling supports; the canted sides with acanthus leaf carved decoration and flanking the lockable graduated drawers with brass swan neck handles, the superstructure rising from scrolls in conforming style and enclosing a three-shelved upper cabinet; the cornice applied with carved floral garlands and a central lion’s mask. Stamped to the rear 'H. Samuel, 484 Oxford Street W'.
