A Set of Sixteen Late Georgian Dining Chairs
Attributed to Gillows

Constructed from richly coloured and patinated mahogany, each chair with brass castor-supported reeded tapering front legs with carved anthemia to the corners, the waisted backrests set with a buttoned leather and having a pierced scrolling foliate design on the toprails.
English, circa 1825

This set of chairs is closely related to those made for Lord Bolton's Hackwood Park in Hampshire supplied by Gillows. The pierced backs are identical and the legs present minor variations suggesting they have been made to a Gillows design or were executed by the firm.
