Baedeker's travel guide of the Argentine Republic, published in 1914 (fourth edition), mentions the Bazar Frances on the Calle Florida in Buenos Aires as a dealer in silver goods. As the name suggests, they imported fine French porcelain, silver, and decorative arts from their premises on Calle Florida, the upscale shopping street where Harrods, Mappin & Webb, and other European retailers had a presence.
