An Empire Style Ormolu-Mounted Amboyna Secrétaire
Constructed using very fine and costly amboyna, bookmatched and quarter-veneered to great artistic effect on all sides, the secrétaire decorated with firegiled ormolu mounts in the Empire style, the top section having retractable double doors flanked by twin columns to either side, the interior veneered in bois citronnier, with one central drawer beneath centred by an ormolu swan escutcheon, opening to reveal a retractable leather writing slide, flanked by pilasters mounted with anthemia, the lower section enclosing an arrangement of three drawers, raised on bracket feet to the rear and oblate bun feet to the front.
