Executed in oil on canvas, depicting a female nude on a bed, dozed off with a closed book on her nightstand next to a lamp. Housed in a carved frame. Signed bottom right 'P. Sieffert.' The back signed and numbered 'P. Sieffert. No 357.'

Paul Sieffert (1874 - 1957)
A noted painter of the nude feminine form, pupil of Gerome, Gabriel Guay and Maignan; exhibitor at the Paris Salon from 1894, winner of the Grand Prix de Rome in 1902; appointed to the Legion d'honneur in 1931; member and jurist of the Committee of French Artists.
