George Elgar Hicks (1824-1914)
Member of the Royal Society of British Artists, The Royal Academy; Benezit notes his works as frequently depicting mothers with their children.
An exhibition of the works of Hicks was held at the Geffrye Museum in 1983, and Rosamund Allwood's catalogue for the event is entitled 'George Elgar Hicks, a painter of Victorian life'.
